Operations of the Mason Square and SciTech campuses roll up into Mason Facilities & Campus Operations

We use the strengths of George Mason University – innovation, responsiveness, flexibility, and community strength to provide leadership in environmental, social, and economic stewardship on our campuses and throughout the local and global communities of which we are a part.

This team manages stormwater and other environmental projects and compliance.

This team is a group of architects, engineers, project managers, and inspectors that manage the full life-cycle of a variety of projects ranging from wayfinding signage to new buildings.  In addition, we oversee architectural standards. 

Making interior spaces functional, safe, and beautiful across Mason campuses. They determine space design and requirements, and select essential and decorative items, such as furniture, colors, lighting, materials, and other design elements. Projects in this area can be as small as office furniture for a new professor or as large as planning the interior design for a new building.

Developing visual concepts that can be found all over Mason campuses from signage to exhibit displays and public art.

 

Facilities & Campus Operations Information Technology provides walk-in, phone, and email support for computing and telephone hardware, software, and all related equipment. We also provide enterprise software for the Mason community including Maintenance Direct, e-Builder, building automation systems, sustainability volunteer signup, bike checkout, and other custom applications as well as dashboards. We also maintain the GIS and infrastructure archives. 

Manages and supports Facilities & Campus Operations communication and social media channels. This team develops communications, marketing, and social media campaigns to promote and champion all of the teams within Mason Facilities & Campus Operations. 

Manages all levels of human resources within Facilities & Campus Operations. This includes tasks from recruitment to employee training and orientation.  

Manages the full source-to-buy process for professional services, construction services, and facilities management repair and maintenance materials. The team includes contract specialists, accounts payable, and billing.

The Budget team provides budgetary oversight and financial support for the Facilities & Campus Operations operating budget and University-wide capital and non-capital project with budgets exceeding $100,000. This is accomplished through responsible implementation of polices, practices, and decisions. This support also includes: the annual fiscal reporting; tracking legislative funding sources; monitoring and reconciling budgets; and tracking and updating debt projections.

This group supports the Mason Community as the point of contact for work requests.

This team works on making sure all buildings on campus are tacitly assessed to identify critical, deficiency systems. 

The Operations section of Facilities Management is responsible for routine preventive and corrective maintenance services on all GMU buildings and grounds.  Maintenance and repair of all mechanical, electrical, and structural equipment and systems is provided by technicians in six zones located on three campuses.  Automotive/equipment repair, grounds landscape/hardscape maintenance, and building & systems warranty is centrally located at the Fairfax campus.

The Mechanical Operations group oversees the heating, cooling, comfort, and indoor air quality programs for the Fairfax Campus and the building automation and energy management needs for all three main campuses.
