C3 Initiatives

Employee of the Month

C3 members partner with Facilities Human Resources to showcase the outstanding work of a Facilities employee who demonstrates the Facilities mission by selecting a monthly Employee of the Month. C3 members review anonymous nominations, select a monthly award winner, and communicate this information to Facilities HR. Nominations must be submitted by the 15th of each month. Submit a nomination here.  Check out our previous Employee of the Month recipients.

Mason Facilities All Together Different Campaign

Features the success of Facilities employees and celebrates what makes us All Together Different! C3 members nominate and vote on the Facilities employees to be recognized for this campaign. Check out the videos here!

C3-Created Recognition Initiatives and Social Activities

Members will create and champion recognition initiatives and social activities (I.e., summer and winter parties) to achieve C3’s primary goal: to ensure all Facilities employees are heard and feel a sense of belonging, inclusion, recognition!

In the past, Facilities hosted a variety of social events, like a holiday party, a barbeque, a picnic, etc. Due to the university's strict purchasing policies, the food and beverages at these events was paid for with personal money from Facilities employees. Mason funds cannot be used for food and beverage purchases, except with extremely limited exemptions. C3 received an initial gift of non-Mason funds ($~900) to get started.

Recognizing there are 500+ Facilities employees across 3 campuses, C3 members are developing plans and proposals to secure additional donations to ensure reliable and stable self-funding. This will allow C3 to host regular social and recognition events accessible to Facilities employees at all 3 campuses.

We Want to Hear From You!

Good News: Share your good news stories
Submit recent news you'd like to share with your colleagues.  Here are some examples of good news stories we'd like to hear about:

  • Professional/personal development: did you complete a training program or gain a certification/degree? Learn a new skill or start a new hobby?
  • Family celebrations: new spouse, baby, grandbaby, pet, anniversary, child achievements
  • Vacation experiences: share memorable story
  • Work Kudos: did a colleague go above and beyond?  Consider submitting them for Employee of the Month as well as a good news submission.

Birth Month
At the start of every month, C3 and F&CO leadership will celebrate those who have completed another lap around the sun! If you wish to be included in the monthly announcement in the C3 Celebrates email, submit which month you were born. This is optional; we will not share any birth months that are not submitted through the form.

Comment Box
In the June 2024 Facilities All Hands Meeting, F&CO leadership spoke to a new feature we are hosting - a digital comment box to improve general George Mason Facilities & Campus Operations. Here are some examples that you are encouraged to share:

  • Constructive feedback
    • Example: "Can agendas be sent out prior to meetings so we all remain on task and pre-work can be completed?"
  • Suggestions and recommendations
    • Example: "Maybe F&CO leadership can host more town halls to hear directly from our team members."
  • Ideas
    • Example: "Here are some professional development opportunities we can share..."

Any submissions that require Human Resources' attention will be sent directly to Ronda Hetterson for review.  This comment box is not the appropriate place to report work place or employee relations issues.
